Here's British character actor John Sutton (1908-1963) in one of his many roles while under contract to 20th Century-Fox. JANE EYRE (1944) is a competent cinematic adaptation of the classic Charlotte Bronte novel with much professionalism before and behind the camera, including Orson Welles as the brooding Edward Rochester. Mr. Sutton costars with Henry Daniell as the tyrannical schoolmaster Mr. Brocklehurst, child actress Peggy Ann Gardner as Jane Eyre as a child and an uncredited Elizabeth Taylor as the ill-fated Helen Burns. Mr. Sutton's character is the compassionate Dr. Rivers, a character who was not present in the original novel.
